Hello, Friends!
It’s that time of year when the leaves are showing their colors before falling from the trees, and all of us in SWINGTIME are very much looking forward to a busy fall schedule! It’s been awhile since our last newsletter, so I want to start by sincerely thanking all of you who came out to hear our shows this summer, and it was a truly wonderful to see old friends and to meet new fans.
It’s hard to believe that September and October have flown by, and we hope that you and yours had a fun and safe Halloween! The next big Holiday, of course, is one which is very meaningful to us, and which we very much look forward to celebrating every year—VETERANS DAY!
Over the next two weekends, it is our honor to recognize America’s servicemen and women past and present with our annual Veterans Day concerts! As I say frequently, all of us in SWINGTIME believe quite strongly that EVERY day should be Veterans Day, so that we can show our most sincere gratitude to those who have sacrificed so much to help secure our great nation and our way of life. Indeed, we feel duty-bound to give musical thanks to these brave Americans who have served our nation.
We start off in Nassau County on Sunday, November 6 (2:00pm), for our fifteenth annual Veterans Day concert presented by the East Meadow Public Library! We are excited to return to the EMPL’s terrific new performance space, where we performed last year, and it is an intimate and vibrant room where everyone can see and hear in comfortable surroundings! We are expecting a full house for this performance, and registration is required. Register here now. If reservations are all taken when you go to register, you can come wait on line to fill any empty seats not taken before the concert starts. While we can’t guarantee admission, experience has shown that most people who come do get seated for the concert.
Then on Sunday, November 13 (2pm), we make our eagerly awaited return to the South Huntington Public Library for our traditional Veterans Tribute program! We have missed performing for our wonderful audience at SHPL (due to an unfortunate two-year Covid hiatus), so we are thrilled to be back playing in the wonderful SHPL Auditorium! Similar to East Meadow, we are expecting our usual full house here, and SHPL cardholders can get up to two free tickets in advance. Tickets are valid until 1:50 pm, when non-ticket holders will be seated, if space allows. Previous experience has shown that most people who arrive before 2pm are admitted, but again, there are no guarantees. Details and registration here.
Please check our website regularly for additional dates that are added to our schedule, and you can also check out our Facebook page for news alerts and postings of videos, and please be sure to Like and/or follow us there to see our regular posts.
We hope to see you at one of these upcoming free Veterans Day shows, and in the meantime, we wish you and your family a happy, healthy and safe “Autumn in New York!” (which reminds me of a song!...).
Swingingly yours,
