Greetings Friends!
We hope you are having an enjoyable and safe summer so far, and even with the recent unexpected postponement of our Tilles Center show (now set for Aug. 1), the band is already in fine form! We were absolutely thrilled to play for a crowd of at least 5,000 people in Astoria back on June 29, and we are grateful for this terrific review in last week’s Queens Gazette: “…a fantastic concert…by Swingtime Big Band who performed an awe-inspiring musical tribute to the Great American Songbook.”
This weekend, we are extremely excited for Swingtime’s next performance: the Concert By The Bay, presented by our dear friends at Islip Arts Council on Saturday, July 17 (5pm), at Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville. Advance tickets are required, and they are expecting a sell-out, so please be sure to get yours today! (FYI, there is a rain date of Sunday, 7/18, if needed, also at 5pm). Here is a link for tickets and more info.
Next on our summer tour itinerary is our 13th consecutive appearance at the renowned Music Mountain Festival in Falls Village, CT, on Saturday, July 24 (3pm). We always look forward to playing in the acoustically perfect Gordon Hall, plus for the first time this year, they are also featuring lawn seating just outside the concert hall. For those of you who plan to be up north that weekend, I really hope you will take this opportunity to come hear us in this gorgeous setting just south of the Berkshires! Tickets are limited, so please get yours today: Ticket details and directions.
After that is our rescheduled Tilles Center concert on Sunday, August 1 (6:30pm). As noted in the announcement of the postponement (from the original date of July 11), all tickets purchased prior to 7/11 will be honored (with refunds offered to those not available on 8/1). The good news is that you still have time to purchase your tickets, and we are still offering you a 10% discount! Please use the code word RIDDLE to get the reduced ticket price when you buy your tickets through the Tilles Center Box Office (516-299-3100) or via this link.
For the first week in August, we eagerly await our return to Suffolk County for a few familiar series where we’ve played many times! On Tuesday, Aug. 3 (7pm), we have our ninth annual performance at the Downtown Rocky Point Summer Concert Series (at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church); followed by our big ‘homecoming’ to Westhampton Beach Village Green Concert Series on Thursday, Aug. 5 (7:30pm) for our 32nd annual Big Band night! And we close out our mini East-Suffolk ‘residency’ on Monday, Aug. 9 (7pm) with a concert at Sachem Public Library in Holbrook, NY for our first show there since 2016! For those details and our complete calendar, you can always check the schedule page on our website.
We can't wait to share our fun and engaging new summer program with you, which showcases Big Band classics and hits from the Great American Songbook, and features our two entertaining vocalists in a special 100th birthday tribute to the great Nelson Riddle! We hope you will add one or more of these dates to your calendar, and that you will join us for a swingin’ good time!
We look forward to seeing you soon at an upcoming concert, and please do come say hello after the show! In the meantime, stay cool and have a great summer!
