We hope that you and your family are thriving now that summer has officially arrived, with summer concert season just about to begin. We’ve missed seeing you--our wonderful friends and fans—very much, and I am sorry you haven’t heard from us in awhile, but not to worry! I am delighted to announce that Swingtime is firing on all cylinders as we prepare for our exciting summer 2024 concert tour!
Our opening concert for the season is coming up on Sunday, July 7 (3pm) at The Madison Theatre at Molloy University in Rockville Centre, which is our only Nassau County public appearance this summer! We are thrilled to return for our 17th performance in 12 years at this fantastic venue, where we are extremely proud to be known as ‘The House Band,’ and for this season-opening show, we have created a fun new program entitled, SWINGIN’ ON THE SILVER SCREEN!
As our title suggests, we will feature cinematic hits from the Great American Songbook and the Big Band years! Please join us as we shine the spotlight on the timeless melodies & meaningful lyrics introduced or featured in Hollywood films, including a special 100th birthday tribute to legendary composer Henry Mancini. Just a few selections you’ll hear on July 7 include: Moon River; The Days of Wine and Roses, the theme from The Pink Panther, and that’s just the beginning!
Swingtime’s dynamic 20-piece jazz ensemble will bring to life the music of Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Les Brown, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman. Plus, our two entertaining vocalists—Bobbie Ruth and Zack Alexander—salute the greatest singers of all time, including Sarah Vaughan, Liza Minelli, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin, Steve Lawrence, and the immortal Frank Sinatra.
