Spring 2021
Greetings Friends!
Most importantly, we hope that you and your loved ones are all healthy and safe as we finally emerge from the darkness into the light, and we wish you a very happy spring.
After this REALLY long year, we know you have missed the experience of hearing live music just as much as we have missed performing for you. But hope springs eternal, and with the rebirth of nature comes the hope and optimism of a brighter tomorrow. Thanks to the lower infection rates and the effectiveness of the vaccine, we are delighted that larger public gatherings are now possible once again, which leads to this VERY happy announcement of our first 2021 concerts!!
Following our successful show last August at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, we are incredibly excited to kick things off with a return to Tilles for their Summer 2021 Outdoor Concert Series on Sunday, July 11 (6:30pm). We will play on a special stage built for this series on the Arts Plaza lawn just outside the Tilles Center Atrium (on the CW Post campus of LIU in Brookville, NY). Our special program this year—SWINGTIME BIG BAND Swings the Great American Songbook—is a showcase of classic songs from stage & screen which are celebrated world-wide as “Made in the USA,” featuring a special centennial tribute to legendary arranger Nelson Riddle, in honor of his 100th birthday this year!
Tickets are on sale now, and advance purchase is required, so please get yours today. Here is a link with details, and as a special gift to our Swingtime family, we are happy to offer you a 10% discount! Please use the code word RIDDLE to get the reduced ticket price when you buy your tickets online or by calling the Tilles Center Box Office (516-299-3100).
Next after that, we make our long-awaited return to Suffolk County, for a special CONCERT BY THE BAY, presented by our dear friends at Islip Arts Council at Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville on Saturday, July 17 (5:00pm). This show is reminiscent of our “Concert in the Park” performances presented by IAC at Heckscher State Park back in 2013 and 2014, so you won’t want to miss this one! Seating is limited for this outdoor performance (which does have rain date of Sun., 7/18), and advance tickets are required which can be purchased via this link.
Closing out our July concert calendar, we eagerly await our 13th annual visit to the renowned Music Mountain Festival in Falls Village, CT for their Saturday Jazz Series on July 24 (NEW TIME: 3:00pm). There is both indoor and outdoor seating available this year, and for our fans who spend weekends north of the City, I hope you will take this opportunity to come hear us in this gorgeous setting. (And I assure you that it’s well worth the trip, either from NYC or the Berkshires!!) Ticket details and directions.
I am also very happy to share with you that we have been rehearsing regularly to prepare these new summer programs, and we can’t wait to see you soon and share this fun music with you! I will be sending another newsletter in the coming weeks with details of our August shows (plus possible additional concerts now being planned!), but in the meantime, you can always check out the schedule page on our website for the latest details.
